Build your Network

Industry Connections

At the JCA, students are not only provided with the knowledge and skills necessary to pass exams but also the different contacts they will need on their journey as a luxury brand entrepreneur, where to look and who to turn to as they begin their fashion career.

With vital contacts across the globe, the JCA arms its learners with the knowledge and skills to excel at their craft as well as letting them know what they can expect to encounter – the good and the bad – when they take their first independent steps as a freelancer or micro-SME, providing the tools to overcome potential obstacles.

SCROLL

Knowledge Village

JCA will position itself as a hub for the regions’ learning, business and civic communities. Through its scholarship and wider networks, the JCA will be regarded as pivotal to the regions’ Knowledge & Cultural Economy. It will pride itself on playing host to showcase events, exhibitions, conferences, and prestigious awards. It will house business surgeries, open consultations and business support fayres. Putting it simply, JCA will turn its campus into a ‘Knowledge Village’.

Creative hub

Industry events will be open to those at the forefront of the fashion industry, and those aspiring to lead it. It will foster partnerships, collaborations and alliances through professional associations, employer agencies, sector agencies, trade bodies and technology vendors. The Academy will establish its monthly Creative Networks programme which will offer high profile, TedX-style speaker events. It will be free for industry professionals and also live streamed to the general audience. Autumn will feature a business fayre; summer will feature a party in the park. Monthly business surgeries will see industry experts give specialised advice for incubated companies, students and external businesses. Quarterly workshops will focus on the crossover between fashion and technology. Collaborators will share projects about interactive design, which will provide insights on emerging trends to students and industry professionals.

Don't break into fashion, grow within it

The fashion industry is an ecosystem. Designers and brand owners operate in a rich community that includes retailers, textile specialists, PRs, magazine editors and figures from the world of art and music, along with many others.

When you become part of the JCA, we take you immediately within this network. JCA mentors and the visiting professionals who have close ties to the Academy help ensure that students are quickly immersed in the fashion world. You can also expect to grow your network through the busy programme of events and shows held at the Academy each month.
